Bamboo Matcha Spoon (Chashaku)

$12 GST included. Free tracked shipping over $69.

Our Chashaku is handmade out of 100% bamboo and is used in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony to portion matcha. Unlike a metal spoon, a bamboo spoon does not charge itself statically, helping the matcha powder to slide off easily. Wipe it with a clean, dry towel after each use.

One bamboo spoon is about 1/3-1/2 of a teaspoon – so a normal serving size would be 2-3 bamboo scoops.

Cleaning Directions:

We recommend delicate handwashing with lukewarm water. There is no need to use a sponge; you can use your hands to avoid damaging the delicate bamboo. Allow your matcha spoon to air dry or pat it dry.

Our bamboo matcha scoops are not suitable for dishwashers.

Customer photo review of Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha Latte Blend

Working from home means I could easily make coffee all day. Instead, I've somehow created a little matcha break around lunchtime. It's probably my favourite part of the workday.

I was spending way too much on matcha lattes. I started making them at home with Iki and now my morning matcha is actually better than most of the ones I was buying.

I've tried matcha before and never understood the hype. This was completely different. Smooth, creamy and not overly bitter. I finally understood why people are so particular about good matcha.

Customer photo review of Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha First Harvest

I originally bought this because I was trying to cut back on coffee. I honestly didn't expect matcha to replace my morning coffee, but now I actually look forward to making it. I get that little ritual in the morning without feeling like I need another coffee two hours later.

I love the taste and would recommend Iki Matcha products to anyone who enjoys a delicious tasting tea. I add almond milk for a creamy taste.

    Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha First Harvest

I was a bit hesitant to buy matcha powder online and honestly quite skeptical but I am so glad I gave it a try! The delivery was surprisingly fast, and the matcha itself exceeded all my expectations. So creamy, smooth and genuinely delicious.

I travel a lot for work. This kit have been a absolute essential on my trips.

    10 Piece Matcha Ritual Kit

Best organic matcha I’ve found as someone who cares about organic sourcing, this matcha checks all the boxes. It’s bright green, finely milled, and strong in flavour without being harsh. It makes the perfect latte and tastes great just whisked with water. Worth every cent for the quality.

    Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha First Harvest

I’m honestly not a fan of matcha but I do really like it! The taste was subtle and came through nicely after! Was an instant hit with my customers.

    Pure Organic Culinary Matcha Powder

For me it’s perfect, it’s not subtle and you can ACTUALLY taste the matcha! And I like how a little bit goes a long way too for the flavour, I used to have to use multiple tspns for the matcha flavour and colour to really shine, but yours doesn’t need much which is so much better!

    Pure Organic Culinary Matcha Powder

I am replacing my first drink of the day with macha before hitting the coffee a bit later. Supposedly a healthier and calmer way to start the day by avoiding interfering with the natural morning cortisol levels that are already high. I am not experienced with macha but enjoying this product.

    Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha First Harvest

THE BEST!! I have purchased many matcha brands in search for the rich taste that I have had at Japanese shops. This matcha has been the best by far. This is crazy good, and is the best matcha I have ever had, and will be my staple for quite some time.

    Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha First Harvest

Best matcha powder—I’ve spent a lot of money on good quality matcha in the past but this has to be the best matcha I’ve had. I’m never buying matcha from anywhere else again.

    Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha First Harvest

INCREDIBLE—By far my favorite matcha. It’s so much more complex in flavor than any other matcha I’ve tried that’s sustainably grown. Floral, Sweet, and definitely the smoothest matcha I’ve ever had. THANK YOU

    Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha First Harvest

I have tried a few different matcha brands over the past 2-3 years, but this one is the best value for money. It's great for daily drinks.

    Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha First Harvest

On my second order now, and so far I’m really enjoying the matcha, I think it’s helping with longer-term energy and focus. But yeah, very much enjoying it mid-morning as a pick-me-up.

    Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha First Harvest

Absolutely love this matcha! I have tried so many different makes, and this is by far the best one. As a personal trainer, fitness instructor and a mum, this really helps me get through my busy schedule!

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • One standard chashaku scoop holds approximately 0.5g of matcha powder. Two scoops (roughly 1g) is the standard single serve for a traditional bowl of whisked matcha (usucha). For lattes and stronger preparations, use three to four scoops (1.5–2g).

    • The chashaku's narrow, curved shape is designed to scoop matcha cleanly from a canister without packing the powder. A regular teaspoon tends to compress matcha, giving you inconsistent amounts. The bamboo also does not carry static charge the way metal does, so the powder releases cleanly.

    • Yes. Each chashaku is carved from a single strip of bamboo — no glue, no joints. The natural bamboo grain gives each scoop a slightly unique character while maintaining the traditional proportions used in Japanese tea preparation.

    • Wipe the chashaku with a dry or slightly damp cloth after each use. Do not soak it in water, wash it with soap, or put it in the dishwasher — prolonged moisture causes bamboo to warp and crack. Store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight.

    • You can, but the chashaku is calibrated for the density of matcha powder (approximately 0.5g per scoop). Other powders have different densities, so the weight per scoop will vary. If precise dosing matters, weigh your first scoop on a kitchen scale to calibrate.

    • A bamboo chashaku typically lasts 1–3 years with daily use and proper care. Unlike the chasen (whisk), there is no mechanical stress on the scoop, so it degrades much more slowly. Occasional light oiling with food-safe mineral oil can help preserve the bamboo.

    • Yes — the bamboo chashaku is included in both our Matcha Starter Kit and the 10 Piece Matcha Ritual Kit. If you already own one of those kits, you do not need to buy the scoop separately unless you want a spare.

    • The chashaku is approximately 18cm long — the traditional length used in Japanese tea ceremonies. The scoop end is roughly 3cm wide with a gentle curve. It fits comfortably in any standard matcha canister opening.
