This canister holds up to 80g of matcha powder — ideal for our 50g bags with room for easy scooping, or a snug fit for a 100g bag divided across two canisters if you want to keep one sealed while using the other.
The Hanami is smaller (80g capacity), making it better suited for 50g bags, travel, or keeping on a kitchen bench without taking up space. The Kaori (150g capacity) fits a full 100g bag with room to spare and works better as a permanent countertop canister. Both are airtight and lightproof.
Yes. The Hanami has a snug inner lid that seals the powder from air, and the opaque steel body blocks all light. Both are essential for preserving matcha freshness after opening.
Yes — the compact 80g size is designed to be portable. The tight inner lid prevents spills in a bag. For air travel, pack it in your carry-on to avoid temperature extremes in the cargo hold.
In an airtight canister stored in a cool, dark cupboard, opened matcha will maintain its best flavour and colour for 4–6 weeks. The canister slows degradation significantly compared to a loosely rolled bag, but matcha is a fresh product — the sooner you use it, the better it tastes.
Food-safe steel with a clean white exterior finish. The construction is fully lightproof with a friction-fit inner lid for an airtight seal. Hand-wash only — the finish is not dishwasher-safe.
No — the canister is sold separately. Pair it with our bamboo matcha spoon (chashaku) for a complete storage and measuring setup. Both are also included in our 10 Piece Matcha Ritual Kit.
