    Frequently Asked Questions

    • The Starter Kit includes a bamboo matcha whisk (chasen), bamboo matcha scoop (chashaku), and a bag of first-harvest Kagoshima ceremonial matcha. It covers the essential tools you need to make your first proper bowl of matcha at home.

    • The Starter Kit includes the three essentials — whisk, scoop and matcha. The 10 Piece Ritual Kit adds a ceramic bowl, whisk holder, sifter, canister and additional accessories. If you already own a wide bowl or want to start with just the basics, the Starter Kit is the right choice.

    • Yes — it is designed for exactly that. The bamboo whisk and scoop are the two tools you genuinely need (a fork or regular spoon will not produce the same result), and the included matcha is ceremonial grade so their first experience will be smooth and sweet, not bitter.

    • You can start with any wide, shallow bowl or large cup — the important thing is that it gives the whisk room to move in a W-motion. A narrow coffee mug will restrict the prongs and produce poor foam. If you enjoy the ritual and want the proper tool, a ceramic chawan is included in the 10 Piece Ritual Kit or available separately.

    • The kit includes our first-harvest Kagoshima Ceremonial Matcha — JAS-certified organic, stone-ground and lab-tested. It is the same product we sell individually, not a lower grade or sample.

    • Yes — it is a popular gift choice because it gives the recipient everything they need to get started without overwhelming them with accessories. It arrives in presentation packaging and pairs well with a matcha canister or matcha bowl as an add-on.

    • Scoop two chashaku scoops of matcha (roughly 1g) into a wide bowl. Add 60–80ml of hot water (80°C — not boiling). Whisk briskly in a W-motion for 15–20 seconds until a fine foam forms. Full temperatures, ratios and technique tips are in our how to make matcha guide.

    • With daily use and proper care (rinse after each use, dry upright or on a holder), the bamboo whisk typically lasts 2–4 months. Replacement whisks are available individually in our matcha accessories collection.
