How Much Matcha Should I Drink in a Day?

1–2 servings of matcha a day (2–4g of powder, roughly ½–1 teaspoon per serving) is a safe, beneficial amount for most healthy adults. Each 2g serving contains about 60–70mg of caffeine — half a typical espresso. Food Standards Australia New Zealand suggests healthy adults keep total caffeine under about 400mg a day, which means you'd need five to six full serves of matcha (11–12g of powder) before matcha alone pushed you past that line. In practice, "too much matcha" for most people means more than 3–4 servings daily or any amount late enough in the day to disturb sleep.
